But who is Lindsay anyway?

I've been learning languages in all sorts of ways since I was 8 years old.

That’s over 2 decades! It started with French in primary school because we got croissants at the end of term, which was reason enough for me to keep going. That's what they mean when they says children learn languages easily...

I've self-studied over 15 languages to conversational & beyond.

The full list (because I know you’re curious) is French, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Japanese, Esperanto, Indonesian, Guarani, Korean, Bulgarian, Russian, Turkish.

I studied my BA in Modern Languages with a French & Spanish focus.

I did this via part time distance learning with The Open University. That means I got to work, travel, learn, and live all at the same time. The stinky uni dorms and student debt put me off a brick university.

I got my MA in Applied Linguistics part time distance learning.

Part time distance learning addict over here. This one included lots of research into second language acquisition aka, how we learn languages.

I adore extended travel, trying new sports, & old films.

Whenever the itch arrives, I love exploring new corners of the world. At home, you'll find me trying new-to-me sports & watching old films.

My too-cute-for-words Russian tortoise is called Gonzo.

She'll be around a few years, so it's only right you know her name. She currently speaks zero languages. I’m working on it.
